Key information about the church...
Sunday Morning
Sunday Evening
Sunday School
10.30am Morning Worship (with Sunday School from about 10.50am)
A typical Sunday morning service will involve the singing of hymns and spiritual songs which are old and new in English, in addition there is usually an Indian song in the morning to reflect the make-up of the congregation. The meeting is lead in English, but the sermon is translated into Punjabi for those who do not understand English, however we are not a Punjabi Church but welcome all nationalities and if necessary, translation can be provided in Arabic and Marathi as well.
The worship is centred on the preaching of God’s word. The Bible is read, explained and expounded in a relevant way. Bible teaching is important to the life of the church, and we believe that a correct interpretation of the scriptures is imperative, together with relevant application to people’s lives. We believe that the Bible is a living book and therefore needs to be evident in the life of every Christian.
After the service there is a time of fellowship, and tea or coffee with biscuits as well as other international snacks which are usually served.
5.00pm Evening Worship (usually with a children’s talk and Young Peoples Fellowship)
The Sunday evening service is shorter than the morning. The entire service is in English. Translation is available through an earpiece if required, but is not part of the service, and takes place from behind a screen, so it’s not audible to the congregation. At this present time, we are able to translate into Arabic, Marathi and Punjabi.
There is also a children’s talk for younger children. During the service, the young children remain in the meeting and are given questions to answer based on the preaching, older children are welcome into the Young People's Fellowship Service that takes place within the Sunday School area.
After the service there is a time of fellowship, and tea or coffee and biscuits as well as other international snacks which are usually available.
Sunday School
The Sunday School remains in the first part of the service and usually leave at around 11.20am for their classes. They begin the Sunday School with a few Christian songs and then break up into smaller age groups, where they have teaching from the Bible. They are taught the Bible systematically, so that it is covered in its entirety over a period of four years.
Child Protection Policy
The church operates a Child Protection Policy and all the teachers and youth leaders are DBS checked
Viewing area for mothers and young children
There is a viewing area at the back of the church, where mothers can sit with their young children who are too young to attend Sunday School. The whole service is clearly in view through a large glass screen, and the sound is relayed through PA system.
If children are too disruptive, the sermon is relayed to the café area where there is a t.v screen.
